GIMP AT SIGGRAPH 2000

GIMP -- Gnu Image Manipulation Program is a freely distributed program that allows users to manipulate and create images with its powerful collection of tools and plug-ins. The GIMP is an open source project with many different people and companies contributing.

This meeting is to bring together developers and users to discuss a variety of issues for GIMP. Topics include current development and future plans.

Recently there has been interest in the special effects world in using GIMP for serious film production work as well. The first  results of this are beginning to appear and GIMP is currently in use (a 16 bit channel version) at Rhythm & Hues Studios and other places. This is a great example of the power of open source in the computer graphics community.

You can hear about this and other GIMP news all at this meeting.
